Job Title: Vegetation Management Operative
Location: Oxfordshire – Area 5
Salary: Hourly rate is dependent on qualifications and experience and will be discussed at interview.
You will be required to work 40 hours per week, including day or night shifts with occasional weekend work.

About the role of Vegetation Management Operative

As a CGS Vegetation Management Operative, you will be supported to achieve your potential and focus on your main responsibilities. Our teams thrive on collaboration, working with respect, honesty, and integrity.
This role is varied throughout the year, depending on the season.
Responsibilities include:
- Cyclical grass cutting between March and October
- Grass cutting using tractors with front and side arm flails, remote control bank mowers, ride-on mowers, and specialist machinery such as reforms and barrier mowers, as well as brush cutters
- Weed control
- Tree and hedge work, including hazardous tree removal, sign and CCTV clearance, hedgerow maintenance or reduction outside bird nesting season
- Path clearance
- Planting schemes, including complete de-vegetation of ditches or other infrastructures
- Complete de-vegetation for new structures and roads
- Jet washing
- Other ad-hoc tasks to assist clients
Vegetation Management Operatives work in a team under the guidance of a supervisor to deliver contractual obligations to an excellent standard.
What good looks like for a Vegetation Management Operative
- No prior experience in highways or vegetation management is required, but beneficial
- Basic understanding of health & safety
- Physically able and able to pass or already hold a Safety Critical Medical
- Full UK driving license with fewer than 6 points
- Enthusiastic ‘can-do’ attitude
