Job Type: Permanent

Location: Guildford Area

Salary: Highly competitive, depending on skills and experience, with a company van or allowance and benefits. Standard hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Home Based. Travel required; a full clean driving licence is essential.

Role Overview: Join our professional, friendly team remotely, covering various UK locations and clients, including Highways, Local Authorities, housing associations, infrastructure, and private sector projects. We seek a Senior Ecologist with industry experience to support our growing Midlands Region team, managing ecological projects, conducting surveys, and providing expert advice.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading technical environmental and ecological projects
  • Ensuring legislative and planning compliance
  • Supervising contractors and managing protected species licences
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Conducting habitat and protected species surveys
  • Developing mitigation and habitat creation schemes
  • Serving as Ecological Clerk of Works
  • Preparing technical reports and biodiversity assessments

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific or environmental discipline
  • Knowledge of ecology, legislation, survey techniques, and planning processes
  • Experience in ecological surveys and environmental sector
  • Protected species survey experience, including bat licensing
  • Experience in project management, report writing, and client liaison
  • Membership of CIEEM or equivalent; full UK driving licence

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with protected species licences, people management, and GIS
  • Experience in linear infrastructure and property development projects
