Role Overview: Join our professional, friendly team remotely, covering various UK locations and clients, including Highways, Local Authorities, housing associations, infrastructure, and private sector projects. We seek a Senior Ecologist with industry experience to support our growing Midlands Region team, managing ecological projects, conducting surveys, and providing expert advice.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading technical environmental and ecological projects
- Ensuring legislative and planning compliance
- Supervising contractors and managing protected species licences
- Mentoring junior staff
- Conducting habitat and protected species surveys
- Developing mitigation and habitat creation schemes
- Serving as Ecological Clerk of Works
- Preparing technical reports and biodiversity assessments
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Degree in a relevant scientific or environmental discipline
- Knowledge of ecology, legislation, survey techniques, and planning processes
- Experience in ecological surveys and environmental sector
- Protected species survey experience, including bat licensing
- Experience in project management, report writing, and client liaison
- Membership of CIEEM or equivalent; full UK driving licence
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Experience with protected species licences, people management, and GIS
- Experience in linear infrastructure and property development projects
