The general hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, with travel required for attending sites and meetings.

About the role of Regional Commercial Manager: As a Regional Commercial Manager, you will efficiently manage all commercial aspects of the business for our South high-speed teams, continually striving to improve financial performance. You will be a key figure in managing and owning the client relationship, ensuring efficient commercial delivery of our projects. Travel will be required between the depots, plus overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and reliable data to the regional senior management team (SMT) and Executive Board in preparing annual budget forecasts.
- Review monthly management accounts and key performance information and support the Regional Directors/Depot Managers in identifying areas for performance improvement/cost efficiency.
- Attend monthly accounts meeting and provide performance information and guidance to Operational counterparts.
- Oversee and manage the commercial aspects of all contracts within the Region, including the provision of accurate accruals and reserves.
- Work with the Credit Control Team to ensure the timely collection of cash and negotiate with Clients over any disputes/late payments.
- Deliver and exceed the budgeted performance for the Region.
- Manage Subcontractors Applications and ensure value is maximised on contract and accurate record keeping.
- Attend Early warning and dispute resolution meetings with the client.
- Ensure the timely and accurate billing of all work carried out within the region, ensuring that client-specified application/invoice dates are met.
- Manage the Early Warning and Compensation Event process as set out in the NEC form of Contract.
- Be responsible for the preparation of target costs for our client through in contract pricing.
- Facilitate the handover/conversion of contracts from the Estimator to Operations Team, ensuring that the delivery team are aware of our obligations/risks/opportunities relating to the contract.
- Monitor ongoing performance in this respect.
- Agree final accounts whilst managing commercial risk.
- Manage Commercial Admin on contract, including any training needs and all Line Management duties.
Business Development:
- Support the Commercial Director and business development team in developing new and existing Client relationships that generate additional revenues and profit for the region.
About You:
We are seeking a commercially astute professional with a track record of success in a similar role. Must have:
- Previous demonstrable experience in commercial management within the Construction/Highways/Rail Sector.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Leadership skills and experience in managing a commercial team.
- Strong understanding of the NEC form of Contract, specifically Options B, C & E.
- Proficient in the use of a PC and the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Confident to work with an IT/Digital system-led solution to commercial management.
- Understanding of management accounts and financial reporting processes.
- Good communicator and team worker.
- Confidently able to deliver presentations.
- Ability to build new and existing relationships with Clients and suppliers.
- Able to travel and make overnight stays when needed.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Right to work in the UK unsponsored.
