The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. You will assume responsibility for the automation of either UI or back end services using Python or Java. You will need to come from a testing background and be able to review stories and create test cases based on the business requirements. You will assist in the delivery of projects and share knowledge with other testers on approaches, how to test particular areas of functionality, and help enhance the test automation frameworks. You will be responsible for creating and executing tests and raising defects to allow for the quality of technology to be measured against defined corporate objectives through the implementation of effective testing metrics and controls with full traceability of tests.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct testing in accordance with the corporate test policy and test strategy.
- Follow the standard test process across all phases of testing that you are involved with.
- Assist the test manager on project activities, such as demos and collating information for reports.
- Document test results for traceability.
- Configure test environments to execute tests.
- Escalate risks and blockers to the test manager.
- Ensure that tests are included in Standard Reports and Closure reports.
- Work with the technology teams to continually improve processes.
- Provide support and guidance on the automation of new features and functionality.
- Extend existing automation tests and develop new tests as required.
- Continually monitor and improve maintenance overhead of automation test execution.
- Define test data and provide insight into data management and tooling.
- Develop additional system stubs and test harnesses to facilitate specific types and levels of testing.
- Raise, triage, and resolve issues alongside deep dive issue investigation and replication.
- Generate new and update existing system and engineering documentation.
- Create a variety of test-related reports for varying stakeholders and audiences.
- Assist in regular reviews of existing processes with the aim of improvement and efficiency.
- Monitor and control deployments into QA environments as part of the CI/CD process.
- Focus on becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on specific business functionality.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree/Advanced degree and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with various aspects of systems testing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of software testing process, methodology, and good practices.
- Good understanding of testing methodologies and their application within an agile delivery framework.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- Experience with Python (preferred) or JavaScript/TypeScript beneficial.
- Experience with AWS services and automated test tools is beneficial.
- Ability to draw in and coordinate resources from across the business to address issues.
- Experience managing small to mid-sized technical teams.
- Motivated to solve quality problems being pragmatic and results-focused.
