As a Finance Change and Reporting Accountant you will provide financial oversight, insight and control across a number of bank projects. You will ensure that all finance requirements are clearly understood throughout each project. This includes working with several finance stakeholders to understand requirements and helping to translate complex accounting and regulatory requirements into practical operational solutions. You will play a key part in the monthly finance reporting cycle, contributing to the preparation of high-quality board and executive reporting packs. This includes producing management accounts, ownership of month-end processes and performing detailed analytical reviews of the profit and loss.
Key Responsibilities
- Support finance representation on a number of projects across the bank, working closely with senior stakeholders.
- Ensure financial and accounting impacts of project activity are clearly defined, documented and delivered on time.
- Support implementation activities including testing, data requirements and process documentation.
- Take responsibility for project handover across finance teams.
- Ensure appropriate controls and audit trails are embedded within new processes and systems.
- Prepare monthly financial board and executive packs.
- Support the month-end close process including ownership of a number of close processes.
- Produce monthly variance analysis, ensuring the accuracy of reporting.
- Preparation and review of areas of balance sheet reconciliation, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Support external audit, internal audit and corporation tax return preparation processes.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of finance policies and procedures.
- Drive improvements in control, efficiency and data quality across finance activities.
- Support the continuous evolution of finance systems, processes and reporting capabilities.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Financial services experience preferred.
- Previous experience of finance change, system implementation or process improvements in a regulated environment would be an advantage.
- Ability to translate technical accounting requirements into practical solutions.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and controls.
- Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
