Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager, the Finance Operations Assistant will provide processing and administrative support to the Finance function of the Bank. You will support with a broad range of finance activities including bank reconciliations, invoice processing, accounting administration, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls. You will work closely with experienced finance professionals to develop your accounting knowledge and gain practical experience within a regulated financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items under supervision.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of cash movements and business account balances.
- Support the investigation and resolution of unreconciled transactions and suspense account items.
- Process supplier invoices and assist with supplier statement reconciliations.
- Assist with the processing of operational payments and customer returns.
- Support the preparation and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end close activities and routine accounting processes.
- Help monitor and maintain finance operational controls and procedures.
- Support the Finance team in responding to audit requests and information requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of management information and reporting where required.
- Develop an understanding of the end-to-end finance processes across the Bank and provide support to colleagues as required.
- Study towards and successfully complete the AAT qualification.
- Develop an understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in training and development activities to build technical and professional skills.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent).
- A-levels, BTEC or equivalent qualification.
- Commitment to studying towards an AAT qualification.
Desirable
- Previous finance, administration or office-based work experience.
- AAT studies already commenced.
- Good Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately and methodically.
