Main Duties
- The successful candidate will work in the dispensary at Fieldhead Hospital and provide support to our inpatient services with regards to medicines supply.
- Work with a wide range of healthcare professionals to ensure service users receive medicines in a timely and safe manner.
- Dispense medication to inpatients and outpatients under the care of SWYFT.
- Provide a stock top‑up service to inpatient units.
- Support the procurement of medication.
- Reception and administrative tasks to support day‑to‑day functioning of the dispensary.
- Maintain and manage stock levels within the department.
- Participate in the weekend and bank holiday rota (1 in 10 Saturdays 10am until 12pm).

Special Knowledge/Skills
- Essential: Good communication skills, both oral and written. Methodical work style with attention to detail. Numeracy and keyboard skills. Ability to prioritise work (Band 3). Knowledge of pharmacy software, IT skills and use of mobile technology (Band 3).

Experience
- Essential: Demonstrable experience as Pharmacy Assistant (Band 3). Experience of stock ordering and distribution SOPs. Dispensing in a busy environment. Organising workload and supervising or mentoring staff.

Training
- Essential: Information Governance. Hospital dispensing and stock control.

Qualifications
- Essential: NVQ Level 2/BTEC Level 2 in pharmacy or willingness to complete within agreed timeframe meeting GPhC requirements (mains for Band 2). Minimum 3 GCSEs (Band 3). NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, Buttercups or equivalent (Band 3). Level 3 qualification in pharmacy or equivalent experience (Band 3).
Physical Attributes
- Essential: Physically able to visit ward areas and select stock from both high and low storage with restricted access. Ability to undertake all duties and demands of the post with a satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years.
