Job Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and direction to develop and deliver a high‑quality, specialist psychology service within the adult acute inpatient service.
- Support the transformation of acute inpatient care in line with national direction.
- Maintain an evidence‑based clinical caseload, delivering assessment, formulation, and intervention (individual and group) during crisis and as part of routine care.
- Provide specialist psychological support, consultation, training and guidance to other professionals.
- Ensure smooth transition and shared discharge planning with community teams from admission through to discharge.
- Facilitate risk assessment and risk management, advising other professionals on the psychological aspects of risk.
- Deliver supervision, reflective practice and support for colleagues, including post‑incident reflective spaces.
- Contribute to audit, policy and service development, research, and propose and implement policy changes within the service.

Key Requirements
- Essential Qualifications: Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (mental health, clinical psychometrics and therapeutic interventions); HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist; training in supervision of doctoral‑level trainee psychologists.
- Experience: Specialist psychological assessment and treatment across a range of settings; application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts; multidisciplinary team working; leadership in service development; teaching, training and supervision.
- Personal Attributes: Ability to travel within the Trust; commitment to service evaluation and consultation; flexibility and adaptability; commitment to challenging discrimination and improving accessibility to services.
- Specialised Knowledge/Skills: Complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management; change management; knowledge of at least two specialised psychological therapies; effective communication of complex information; risk assessment, needs assessment, care planning, and case management; knowledge of relevant legislation and government policy; leadership skills within an area of practice.
