30 hours per week, 12‑month fixed term at Fieldhead Hospital, Wakefield. The role provides specialist clinical pharmacy services across a range of mental health settings – inpatient wards, forensic units, community mental health teams and learning disability services. It offers an opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to develop their clinical and leadership skills within a supportive, forward‑thinking team. The Trust will not sponsor for this short‑term contract; applicants must already be eligible to work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical pharmacy services to allocated teams, including medication review, drug history taking, formulation of care plans and therapeutic drug monitoring.
- Deliver high‑quality, patient‑focused pharmaceutical care and advice on medicines safety and cost‑effectiveness to professionals and patients.
- Actively contribute to multidisciplinary teams and support service development, including participation in pharmacy team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Co‑ordinate clinical and technical tasks such as audits, practice research, dispensing of clinical trials, and supporting self‑medication schemes.
- Supervise and train pharmacy technicians, new pharmacists and undergraduate pharmacy students.
- Participate in Saturday, bank‑holiday and out‑of‑hours rotas.
- Maintain compliance with statutory duties, health and safety legislation, data protection, and Trust policies.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications and experience: Completed pre‑registration training; substantial post‑registration experience in pharmacy; GPhC registration as a pharmacist; Bachelor/Master’s degree in Pharmacy.
Desirable qualifications and experience: Membership of CMHP or RPS; experience in mental health or hospital pharmacy; experience providing Medicines Information; audit projects; diploma in clinical pharmacy.
Essential knowledge, skills and attributes: Strong communication and teaching skills; evidence of continuing professional development; supervisory and directing junior staff competence; computer literate with pharmacy systems; adaptability and professional manner.
Desirable knowledge, skills and attributes: Specialist mental health pharmacy knowledge; audit planning and delivery skills; current driving licence.
Physical requirements: Ability to undertake duties and demands of the post including a satisfactory sickness record over the previous two years.
