Job Summary
Barnsley NHS Talking Therapies Team aims to improve access to psychological therapy and treatment for people with mild to moderate mental health problems in Barnsley. The role provides a range of therapies at step 2 and step 3, delivered face‑to‑face, virtual or telephone, including groups, workshops and one‑to‑one appointments. The post holder will undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT and progress to a Band 7 High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist under supervision of a BABCP Accredited clinician.
Responsibilities
- Receive regular supervision from university and within the service.
- Assess and treat clients presenting with mild to moderate common mental health problems.
- Implement CBT interventions with a reduced caseload.
- Deliver training, supervision and support to colleagues where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and evidence‑based practice.
Key Result Areas
- Provide High Intensity CBT intervention to people with mild to moderate common mental health problems, under the supervision of a BABCP Accredited CBT clinician.
- Deliver excellent customer care and communicate effectively with clients and team.
- Contribute to service reviews, audit and research.
- Engage in continuous professional development and maintain membership of relevant bodies (NMC, BABCP, UKCP).
Qualifications & Skills
- Registered qualification in a core mental health, social welfare or equivalent profession, or level 6 higher education study.
- Willingness to undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT and attend university two days per week.
- Communication skills, IT literate and ability to travel within the Trust.
- Knowledge of adult and child protection legislation is desirable.

Additional Information
All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and hold current professional registration. A Disclosure and Barring Service check and DBS verification will be required. The post is a permanent, full‑time position within Band 6, with a salary range of £38,682 to £46,580. The role requires full vaccination against COVID‑19.
