An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Secretary/Administrator to join our Paediatric Audiology Service. You will provide comprehensive secretarial/administrative support within a small team based at New Street Health Centre.
Key duties include:
- Working within Electronic Patient Records (e.g. SystmOne)
- Using Microsoft Office products such as Word and Outlook
- Creating and sending out letters from the clinicians to other services such as referrals to other hospital trusts, or to GPs
- Answering telephone queries or taking messages for the clinical team
- Contacting parents/carers to make appointments
- General administrative work
Responsibilities:
- Provide a comprehensive, confidential secretarial/administrative service to clinical/support services under the supervision/direction of the Administrative Supervisor
- Work within established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines, acting within the required sphere of competences
- Produce documents using Microsoft Office; undertake audio-typing duties; arrange meetings for service managers; arrange appointments and send outcome letters generated from clinical staff
- Service meetings including minute taking, and carry out general clerical duties such as filing and photocopying
- Maintain confidentiality at all times; communicate effectively; work as part of a team; use initiative and prioritise workload to meet deadlines; maintain accurate records and organise effectively
Requirements:
- Fully computer literate in Microsoft Office with a high level of written and verbal communication skills
- A Typing/Word Processing qualification to RSA III or equivalent is essential
- Ability to work autonomously in prioritising and organising a busy workload

Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing/able to undertake all appropriate Trust mandatory training requirements, and subsequent refresher training relevant to the area
- NVQ level 3 (or equivalent qualification) or demonstrate competency at level 3; RSA III is acceptable
- Experience in recent secretarial/administrative roles, copy/audio typing, note/minute taking, and using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.; ability to work with minimum supervision in a busy environment and maintain confidentiality
Location: New Street Health Centre, Upper New Street, Barnsley, S70 1LE, United Kingdom.
Contract: Permanent.
Working pattern: Part-time, Flexible working.
Pay band: Band 3.
Salary: £25,760 to £27,476 per year pro rata.
