Job Summary

Baghill House Health and Wellbeing Centre, Walkergate, Pontefract, WF8 1QS

Permanent, full time, 10 programmed activities per week plus on-call.

Salary: £119,490 to £145,478 a year (point 04 of the consultant pay scale, Hospital medical and dental staff, Grade Consultant).

Working pattern: Full-time, Flexible working.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Deliver high quality care to patients as part of the Community Mental Health Team (Enhanced Pathway).
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, manage and support patients with working-age adult mental health needs.
  • Provide clinical leadership, training and support to team members.
  • Engage with families, carers and wider agencies, ensuring a person-centred approach.
  • Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and service evaluation programmes.
  • Maintain accurate electronic patient records and comply with MHA and MCA requirements.

Person Specification

Eligibility (Essential)

  • Fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise (or have checked GMC eligibility and commenced the application process at the time of NHS jobs application).
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for general adult psychiatry or within six months of gaining CCT.
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
  • In good standing with the GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.

Experience (Essential)

  • Excellent knowledge in the specialty of adult psychiatry.
  • Strong clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective with broad medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Decision making based on evidence and experience, incorporating input from others.
  • Capability to meet duties under the MHA and MCA.
  • Ability to provide clinical leadership to a multi-professional team and liaise with a variety of agencies.

Experience (Desirable)

  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or a comparable service.
