Job Summary
You are invited to apply to join the Trust Bank as a Registered Nurse on an as and when required basis. Bank cover is available to support services Trustwide, including Barnsley, Calderdale, Dewsbury, Huddersfield and Wakefield. We are looking for committed Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) and Learning Disabilities Nurses (RNLD). The role is varied, challenging and rewarding and requires a positive outlook and the ability to develop and maintain a meaningful therapeutic relationship with service users. The focus is on delivering high standards of care that maximise service user recovery and rehabilitation potential. You will have strong communication and people skills, a non-judgemental, person-centred approach and a caring attitude, and be prepared to make a difference. Criteria for being registered on the Trust Bank include committing to a minimum of 4 shifts in 6 months and keeping all mandatory training up to date.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside staff in delivering a high-quality nursing service by partnering with health care professionals, the service users and their families/carers. Job Description and Responsibilities

- To work flexibly to cover shifts to provide a 365-day-per-year service.
- Act as shift co-ordinator as required and participate in planning and co-ordinating the shift to ensure smooth and effective running of the service and to role-model best practice.
- Coordinate and lead the team to make effective use of team skills to provide the best possible standards of care and treatment/interventions.
- Prioritise workload in line with the team and service objectives.
- Take full involvement as a primary nurse by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatment/care for named service users.
- Actively participate in service user reviews, ward rounds and applicable meetings.
- Provide care and specific interventions for other service users as allocated daily, in accordance with written care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care plans and ensure effective documentation for service users and carers.
- Contribute to keeping statistical service records and be involved in the evaluation process as required by the manager.
- Develop good working relationships with consultants, their teams and other trust teams to ensure effective service delivery and best use of resources.
- Develop positive relationships with non-statutory and voluntary agencies to foster partnerships relevant to service development and local delivery.
- Promote service user and carer involvement in all aspects of service delivery where possible.
- Inform all service users of their right to access their care plan and encourage them to read/evaluate their care plan.

- Relevant post-basic qualifications (CBT/PSI). Experience mentoring or supporting learners, or ability to demonstrate mentoring skills.

- Involvement in a systematic approach to care including assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation. Awareness of the Care Programme Approach. Experience of working with individuals with mental health needs or learning disabilities. Knowledge of the key worker/primary nurse system. Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and within a recovery-based model. Clinical/professional supervision.
