Overview

Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner at Adel Beck Secure Children’s Home, Leeds. Permanent, full‑time, flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and treatment to children and young people with mental health needs.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within the MDT, offering consultation for other agencies and professionals.
  • Participate in CAMHS first‑call rota and support extended hours alongside fellow specialists.
  • Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
  • Conduct routine and urgent assessment and interventions in line with evidence‑based practice, under supervision from a senior clinician.
  • Support the development, audit and review of service provision, contributing to clinical audit programmes.
  • Maintain high quality data collection using IT systems such as Rio and System One, keeping information secure and confidential.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. nursing, psychologist, psychotherapist, family therapist or other allied health professional).
  • Post‑qualification professional development and ongoing supervision or mentorship.
  • Membership of professional bodies and current UK professional registration.
  • Substantial post‑qualification experience with children and young people in complex care settings.
  • Multidisciplinary team working, inter‑agency liaison and consultation.
  • Clinical / therapeutic knowledge and skills in assessment, risk management and evidence‑based practice.

Training & Knowledge

  • Specialist CAMHS training and experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication, negotiation and report‑writing skills.
  • Teamworking skills, ability to manage inter‑disciplinary tensions and foster good working practices.
