Psychotherapist in Huddersfield

Kirklees Intensive Home-Based Treatment Team are seeking to recruit a Band 7 psychotherapist to work within their team. This full-time post is based at Folly Hall in Huddersfield, and the role will cover both North and South Kirklees.

You would be working with a well-established multidisciplinary team that supports staff to develop both personally and professionally. We have a mix of CPNs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Social Care Professionals and Occupational Therapists, also TIPD leads and psychiatrists. IHBT are an alternative to hospital admission and work closely with service users, their carers and families to maintain someone’s safety in the community. IHBT also provide a gatekeeping role for hospital admissions. You will need to be able to work autonomously as well as within a team and be able to assess risks for Working Age Adults.

Main duties of the job

• The post holder will provide specialist psychotherapy skills within a multidisciplinary team and deliver a high quality clinical service to the users of the service.
• Provide highly specialist assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with non-psychology and psychotherapy professionals from other agencies and carers.
• Be clinically responsible to a senior clinical psychologist or psychotherapist with clinical oversight of all work held by the clinical lead in the service.
• Deliver the job plan within the services the post is based.
• Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team, observing Trust and National policies and procedures.
• Utilise research skills in audit, service development and research relevant to the post.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer consultation, supervision and training when required by other agencies involved in the psychological, emotional and behavioural well-being of people referred to the service.
• Provide consultation, assessment and intervention in the service.
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary context.
• Provide assessment and treatment options for people experiencing moderate, severe and complex mental health problems.
• Exercise expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence-based practice.
• Continually expand and consolidate clinical skills using training, experience and supervision.
• Provide specialist risk assessment and intervention for people who present to the service.
• Follow appropriate Adult and Child Protection guidelines in all clinical work, including liaison with all agencies.
• Liaise and consult with the wider professional network in the care of the client.
• Work jointly with other team members to deliver the most appropriate clinical service to people and their families.
• Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.
• Communicate effectively about assessment, formulation and treatment plans and evaluate progress.
• Receive regular professional supervision from a senior Clinical Psychologist or psychotherapist and, where appropriate, other senior clinicians.
• Continue to access continuing professional development opportunities in line with agreed targets and personal development plan.
• Assist in the supervision of Doctoral level Clinical Psychology trainees and trainees from other disciplines as appropriate.
• Assist in the teaching and training of professionals.
• Contribute to audit processes and to research in the service area.
• Utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice of self and others.
• Provide advice on research projects to other staff around appropriate methodology and analysis.
• Undertake project management as required to aid service development.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of high professional standards of practice, participate in CPD activities, and maintain membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. UKCP, related to the model of working).
• Contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychotherapy across the service, and maintain involvement with current developments in the field.
• Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry, report writing, and professional self-governance in line with codes of practice and Trust policies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies affecting the clients served by the service.
• Work flexibly in terms of base location and hours of clinical availability.

Qualifications

• Essential: Registered qualification in core mental health/social welfare profession.
• Essential: Qualifying level course in Psychotherapy or equivalent at Masters level.
• Essential: Registration/ Accreditation with the relevant professional/accrediting body for the model of psychotherapy relevant to this post (e.g., UKCP, ACAP, BABCP).

Experience

• Essential: Completion of significant supervised clinical practice; ability to carry out assessment, formulation and intervention.
• Desirable: Experience in working with service users in the clinical area of the post; experience with different theoretical approaches; experience working with other disciplines; experience working with people who have disabilities.
