Location: Fieldhead Hospital
Responsibilities:
- Organise high dusting and pipe dusting as required.
- Dispose of household and clinical waste in accordance with Infection Control and Health and Safety policies.
- Supply and replenish consumables such as paper towels, toilet rolls and soap.
- Report mechanical defects, pest sightings or environmental faults to appropriate personnel.
- Follow operational procedures for securing and locking doors.
- Spot-clean spillages in line with health and safety policies.
- Dishwash and clean kitchen surfaces, catering equipment and bulk food heated trolleys after each meal.
- Maintain sanitary fittings and wash basins, toilets and showers.
- Manage floor care: dry mop, sweep, damp mop, machine-scrub hard floors, vacuum carpeted areas and clean carpets with hot water extraction.
Weekly and Periodic Duties:
- High dusting of walls, fittings and high ledges.
- Damp dusting of pipes and ledges.
- Thorough cleaning of catering equipment.
- Maintenance of hard floor surfaces, painting, curtain changing and wheel cleaning of beds.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).
- Basic literacy and numeric skills.
- Physical ability to undertake the duties of the post and a satisfactory sickness record over the previous two years.
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience in a demanding work environment.
Desirable Experience:
- Industrial cleaning and/or catering experience.
- Customer care or patient-focused environment experience.
Essential Training:
- Commitment to undertake relevant training in line with job responsibilities.
Essential Knowledge/Skills:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; courteous and sensitive approach to service users, colleagues and visitors.
- Ability to work without immediate supervision, prioritise tasks and use initiative.
