NHS Barnsley Talking Therapies aims to improve access to psychological therapy and treatment for people with mild to moderate mental health problems in Barnsley. The service offers step 2 and step 3 therapies delivered face‑to‑face, virtually, by telephone or computerised. Services are available Monday‑Thursday 9‑8 and Friday 9‑5, and include groups, workshops and one‑to‑one appointments.

- Leadership and management of the core team and service.

- Promotion of service user and carer involvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction and support to the team.
- Ensure staff supervision, workload allocation, development and performance management.
- Oversee safe case management, appropriate referrals and high‑quality clinical practice.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with primary, secondary and community agencies.
- Ensure timely and effective assessment, intervention and treatment pathways aligned to standards.
- Maintain quality, risk, compliance and Trust policy adherence.
- Meet and improve targets, KPIs and commissioned outcomes.
- Drive service improvement, cultural competence and quality standards.
Person Specification
- Physical Attributes: Ability to undertake the duties of the post; satisfactory sickness record over the past two years.
- Experience: Substantial post‑registration experience in mental health, holding a senior clinical position; experience working within primary care mental health services.
- Desirable experience: Senior community post.
- Special Knowledge & Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of IAPT, stepped care model, community care, mental health policy, IAPT MDS reporting. Competent in HR, budgetary and performance management. Ability to lead risk assessments and MDT coordination. Effective communication and supervisory skills.
- Qualifications: Dip Nursing (RMHN/RMN), Dip/Degree Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology/CBT or equivalent degree level education.
- Desirable qualifications: Further CBT training, appropriate management qualification.
- Personal Attributes: Works independently, builds partnerships, stays motivated, eligible to work in the UK.
- Desirable attribute: Current driving licence and access to a car.
- Training: Willing to undertake and facilitate training as identified.
