Job Summary

We offer input to adults with complex and diverse mental health needs. We are dedicated to developing trauma-informed principles of care in conjunction with the Trauma Informed Personality Disorder pathway. This post is based within the Wellbeing team at the Priestley Unit, Dewsbury and District Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a caseload of service users and offer individual interventions.
  • Carry out full comprehensive assessments and risk assessments for each service user.
  • Work closely with the Core Team, Psychiatry, pharmacy, GPs, physical healthcare providers and partner agencies.
  • Support service users to stay well and maintain recovery.
  • Participate in service development and clinical governance structures.
  • Maintain professional registration and demonstrate commitment to statutory codes of practice and CPD.

Qualifications and Person Specification

  • Band 6, RMN current NMC registration.
  • Band 5 and Band 6 – Working knowledge of recent government legislation (Mental Health Act, Health & Safety, Care Programme Approach, Care Act and Safeguarding).
  • Proven skills in partnership working with people who use services and their carers.
  • Ability to act up in the absence of the team leader.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of audit processes.
  • Experience of carer services/assessment.
  • Knowledge and evidence of using IT systems.

Experience

  • Significant experience of working within a mental health setting.
  • Experience of supporting/mentoring and supervising colleagues, students or trainees.
  • Experience of delivering a range of therapeutic techniques.
  • Working within an integrated multi-disciplinary environment and co-working with other teams.
  • Evidence of knowledge and application of national guidance and standards (NICE, CQC, CQUINs).

  • Time management and ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Reliability, enthusiasm, motivation and resourcefulness.
  • Professional attitude and leadership skills.
  • A willingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of service users and the team, including extended hours.
  • A current driving licence and access to a car during the working day (reasonable adjustments available).

  • Relevant post‑registration qualifications and/or training.
