Overview

Are you a Registered Nurse looking for a dynamic and rewarding role? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Occupational Health team, supporting health and wellbeing initiatives for NHS staff across South West Yorkshire Trust and partner Trusts. The role involves owning immunisation and blood test clinics across multiple sites, with a mix of independent practice, collaboration and support from an experienced Occupational Health Multi-Disciplinary team. The service aims to deliver high-quality care that meets local and national standards and supports growth of the service within a forward-thinking environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead staff clinics, assessing immunisation history in terms of job role and risks and delivering vaccinations and blood tests in line with national and local guidance.
  • Assess risks from occupational exposure to blood and bodily fluids and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Review blood results and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate records, including cold chain documentation and digital data entry.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across supported organisations.
  • Contribute to service development by undertaking clinical audits.
  • Utilise ICT skills to analyse and synthesise patient data from the Occupational Health system OPAS G2, including Excel and other Microsoft products.
  • Work closely with other MDT members and administrative colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 and current NMC registration.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team; work under pressure.
  • Physical capability for lifting and carrying equipment; use of own vehicle for work purposes.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Aware of own limitations and able to participate in clinical governance, CPD and audits.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a clinic environment and immunisation/venepuncture experience.
  • Experience of liaising with customers and handling difficult situations; experience with OPAS or OH databases.

Special Knowledge/Skills

Essential

  • Strong clinical and health-influencing skills; able to motivate individuals in their health management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with infection control, pharmacy and laboratories; experience in managing change.

Desirable

  • Experience in clinical governance initiatives (SEQOSH accreditation).

Training

Essential

  • Evidence of recent CPD; post-registration nursing experience.

Desirable

  • Venepuncture, immunisation experience; previous OH experience; familiarity with OPAS or OH databases.
