Hi, my name is Jen Wilson, Team Manager for the Wakefield CAMHS Eating Disorder Team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed Mental Health Practitioner with experience and transferable skills to join our team.
Requirements: Demonstrated mental health skills and knowledge.
Experience working with children and young people facing eating difficulties is desirable, transferable from previous clinical experience.
The team is based mainly at Airedale Health Centre in Castleford and Drury Lane Health Centre in Wakefield; you will also work in other community settings across Wakefield District, requiring flexible travel.
Responsibilities
- Assess young people presenting with eating disorder difficulties.
- Maintain a caseload and deliver evidence‑informed care to support the recovery of young people and families.
- Develop good working relationships with key professionals across the district.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team collaboration.
- Manage own caseload, accessing appropriate support and guidance.
- Operate within the clinical and case management supervision framework.
- Provide training, consultation and supervision to other service providers, partner agencies and junior staff as required.
- Assist in service development, audit and review.
- Participate in the clinical audit programme and report lessons learned.
- Comply with clinical and corporate governance frameworks.
- Communicate concerns through management processes and engage in annual appraisal.
- Maintain professional registration and continue professional development.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification (e. g., nursing or allied to medicine).
- Dip SW or relevant mental health profession.
- Membership of a professional body.
- Post registration qualification (degree) – desirable.
- Postgraduate qualification in mental health (CBT, Family Therapy, Counselling) – desirable.
- Teaching and assessing qualification – desirable.
Experience
- Substantial post‑qualification experience working with children, young people and their carers in a mental health or complex care setting.
- Multidisciplinary team working experience.
- Inter‑agency liaison and consultation experience.
- Experience supervising/mentoring junior staff.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance (NHS Plan, Mental Health Legislation, Children’s Act, Education Act, Working Together, Children’s NSF, Every Child Matters).
- Clinical/therapeutic knowledge and skills in mental health.
- Experience in assessment and risk management with evidence‑based practice.
- Proven ability to work with other agencies and disciplines in partnership.
- Experience safeguarding children and young people.
- Experience in community settings and working with diverse cultural contexts – desirable.

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage own caseload.
