Job Summary

We are seeking a Recruitment Officer to join the recruitment department within the People Directorate at Kendray Hospital, Barnsley.

The role involves end‑to‑end recruitment for NHS staff groups across our regional footprint, focusing on delivering a high‑quality candidate experience within an inclusive environment.

Job Description

The postholder will provide advice to managers and staff within the Trust on recruitment matters in line with Trust policies and relevant legislation.

They will manage their workload, meet agreed deadlines and assist in developing and communicating employment opportunities to reflect community diversity.

Responsibilities include

  • Providing recruitment advice and support to managers and staff.
  • Preparing, administering, and accurately checking offer letters and written statements of terms and conditions.
  • Ensuring adverts, job descriptions, and person specifications meet Trust standards.
  • Maintaining the NHS Jobs database accurately throughout the entire recruitment process for each vacancy.
  • Placing adverts, liaising with prospective new starters, and supporting recruitment processes.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK.

Consequently, we are unable to sponsor a visa for this role.

Essential

  • Ability to communicate in a professional, friendly, efficient, and helpful manner.
  • Ability to work independently and to own initiative.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to obtain and convey information accurately.
  • Teamwork and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong prioritisation and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Understanding of operational policies and procedures.
  • Preparedness to produce routine written correspondence.
  • Adherence to strict confidentiality.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • A–C in Maths/English GCSE or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience in an administrative role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Accurate data entry and filing system management.
  • Physical ability to meet job demands and maintain a satisfactory sickness record over two years.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of employment legislation related to recruitment and selection.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and selection processes.
  • Experience in a recruitment or HR setting.
  • Experience using NHS Jobs and DBS online.
  • Willingness to travel within the Trust as required.
