22.5 hours per week - fixed term until 19 July 2027. We at the Enhanced Mental Health Team West are looking for a temporary administrative assistant. The post is based at Kendray Hospital and the successful candidate will provide comprehensive and confidential administration support for the team including the consultant psychiatrist. The successful candidate will be part of an admin team, assist in general administrative duties, and have some face-to-face interactions with service users, visitors and other clinical staff within the James Barnes Centre. The team is small and family friendly; the post holder will be expected to work between 9:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility encouraged to promote a healthy work-life balance.

  • Essential organisational skills to plan practitioners’ diary and arrange meetings.
  • Minute taking.
  • Excellent customer service/telephone skills to manage busy phonelines.
  • Work as part of a wider Admin Team and use initiative while contributing as a team member.
  • Maintain organisation of room bookings held at James Barnes Centre.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change to meet the demands of the post.
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Follow administrative processes with general organisational skills.
  • Experience with electronic client clinical systems is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

  • Qualifications
  • Essential: NVQ level 3 (or equivalent qualification) or competency at level 3; RSA III.
  • Desirable: Willingness to undertake further study/development.

  • Essential: Good written and verbal communication, ability to prepare routine correspondence, data protection awareness, customer care, interpersonal skills, diversity/cultural understanding, resilience under pressure, non-judgemental and empathetic approach, ability to identify risks and act appropriately, and alignment with Trust values.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of information governance.

  • Essential: Willingness to undertake all appropriate Trust mandatory training and refreshers; commitment to ongoing job development and skills maintenance.
  • Experience
  • Essential: Recent secretarial/administrative experience and copy/audio typing; note/minute taking; experience with email, diaries (paper and electronic), and arranging meetings; proficiency in Microsoft Word and other Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); ability to work in a busy environment with competing demands; maintain strict confidentiality; initiative; task organization and deadline management.
