Consultant in General Adult (In-patient) Psychiatry at Priestley Unit, Dewsbury and District Hospital, Dewsbury. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will be an integral role within the Calderdale and Kirklees acute pathway. Ward 18 is a well-established 24 bedded mixed gender general adult inpatient unit that is well supported by a specialty doctor and 3 resident doctors.

This vacancy is due to the current postholder moving to another post within the Trust. The post is open to all eligible candidates as per the job description. This is a full-time post with 10 PAs and attracts 2 additional PAs that is reviewed every year at Job Planning. There is also on call supplement available.

The starting salary for this post is aligned with point 04 of the consultant pay scale (£123,672 -£150,569), in line with Trust policy for newly appointed consultants. Placement on the scale will be reviewed where applicable NHS consultant experience can be evidenced.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Providing clinical leadership to a multiprofessional team.
  • Managing clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Delivering undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Participating in continuous professional development.
  • Engaging in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.
