Reporting to the General Manager

Full Time Contract – 40 hours per week

Salary £40k pa

Job Purpose: To champion the golf, croquet and bridge experience for members ensuring the smooth running of all sections ensuring all staff and members know what it is, how it works and that it runs seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Head Golf Professional, run the day to day golf activities and take on new tasks when appropriate.
  • To represent the Club’s management on the Golf, Bridge and Croquet committees supporting their Chair as required.
  • To support the Chess, Backgammon, and other Games sections where necessary.
  • To be responsible for the running of external events for golf e.g. Gold Cup and supporting external bridge and croquet events.
  • Fully brief Events and Reception, and other relevant departments on all weekly Golf and Games activities ensuring good forward planning and accurate information presented to members.
  • Manage the Golf Starters and Course Marshall team ensuring they deliver excellent customer service, checking in all golfers and help maintain the pace of play on the golf course.
  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the Indoor Golf Centre and Short Game Practise Area when it opens in February 2027.

Ladies' Golf

  • Responsible for the smooth running of Ladies’ Club Competitions in conjunction with the Head Golf Professional and appropriate organising Member.
  • Maintenance of all Ladies’ handicaps.
  • Keeping the Golf Section aware of external competitions.
  • Update the content of the Ladies’ Golf Section on the Members’ Website in liaison with the Lady Captain.
  • Administering, in conjunction with the match captain, all Ladies’ matches.
  • Liaise with the Treasurer on the administration of the Ladies’ Golf Fund.
  • Secretary to the Ladies’ Golf Committee, taking minutes and providing an agenda for Committee meetings.

Men's Golf

  • Responsible for the administration of all golfing activities.
  • Sign up lists, draws and running of Men’s, Seniors and Mixed Club Competitions in conjunction with the Head Golf Professional and appropriate organising Member.
  • Administer the Member’s handicaps and liaise with the Sports Shop on new member golf inductions.
  • Keeping the Golf Section aware of external competitions.
  • Liaise with the Treasurer on the administration of the Men’s Golf Fund.
  • Secretary to the Men’s Golf Committees including attending and contributing to the Golf Committee meetings, taking minutes and providing agendas after liaising with the Chairman and General Manager.
  • Administering, in conjunction with the match captain, the Club Scratch League and Friendly Matches.
  • In addition, controlling the Men’s Golf Match Meals Fund.
  • Update the content of the Men’s Golf Section on the Members’ Website in liaison with the Men’s Captain.
  • Liaise with the Finance Department and Men’s and Ladies’ Captains over the income and expenditure in the various golf and prize funds.
  • Provide a quarterly analysis to the Captains, unless otherwise requested.

Junior Golf

  • To attend the Junior Golf Committee providing administrative support to the Club Professionals where required.
  • Administer all Junior Golf Competitions and ensure there is a full schedule of junior and family competitions throughout the year.

Bridge

  • Management representative at the Committee meetings, takes minutes, deals with all action points from those meetings.
  • Deals with all general enquiries relating to Bridge and liaise with the Bridge Committee Chair on the smooth running of the section.

Croquet

  • Management representative at the Committee meetings, deals with all action points from those meetings.
  • Deals with all general enquiries relating to Croquet.
  • Administration of all internal and external competitions, matches, fixture list and annual dinner in conjunction with Croquet Chair.
  • Liaise with the Treasurer on the management of the Croquet Fund.
  • Update the Croquet Section of the Members’ Website.

Other

  • Liaise with the Catering department and Match Captains to ensure a high quality service for events and matches.
  • Be responsible for the forward planning of Golf, Croquet and Bridge fixtures for the diary and weekly monitoring of Golf events.
  • Maintain a record of the Golf trophies, their engraving and provides winners information to coordinate annual entries onto the Honours Boards in the Clubhouse.
  • Must be able to perform a varied work schedule; weekend duties required.
  • This position is expected to be on duty for all major Club competitions (Spring and Autumn meetings, Invitation Days and Club Championship) for rules advice, to oversee the scores and provide a list of winners.
  • To assist the General Manager in the preparation of annual budgets for Golf, Croquet and Bridge.
