Would you like to work alongside specialists in multiple disciplines, learning in a highly supportive and friendly environment? If so, we have the internship for you! We are looking for 6 interns!

Our internship programme is designed to help enthusiastic and highly motivated vets achieve their career goals. We aim to prepare them for future leadership roles and advanced postgraduate training, like residencies. Our past interns have gone on to various paths, from returning to general practice to securing residency positions in their chosen specialities.

We are a friendly and supportive specialist-led multidisciplinary referral centre located near Chester. Our disciplines cover anaesthesia, internal medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, neurology, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology, and oncology. With highly experienced nursing teams, we receive cases from all over the country, assuring exceptional care to all our patients.

The rotating internship programme at Chestergates Veterinary Specialists is a 12‑month fixed‑term position. In this exciting role, you'll work under the supervision of specialists in a wide range of disciplines. You'll also have the opportunity to work within our out‑of‑hours first opinion practice, which will help you develop your emergency and critical care skills and knowledge with our supportive and caring team.

Our interns will have access to both formal and informal learning. They'll be encouraged to take part in and prepare journal clubs, seminars, clinical reviews, and many other activities. Being part of CVS Ltd. also gives you the chance to collaborate with other centres, build future relationships, and get great learning support from in‑house CPD provided by the Knowledge Hub.

Personal Specification for Application

The ideal applicant will be looking either to take the next step towards specialisation, gain further ECC experience, or to improve their knowledge, clinical reasoning, and diagnostic skills. You should be proactive and professional, with a positive attitude, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Great teamwork skills and a commitment to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care are also essential. Successful candidates must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Ideally, you'll already have a sponsored visa, but we encourage all applicants to apply, as this will be considered on an individual basis.
