Are you a recent graduate who is excited about emergency work? Are you looking to step into your first out-of-hours role in a highly supportive environment, guided by specialists in a multi-disciplinary referral hospital together with an experienced out-of-hours team? Chestergates Veterinary Specialists is a multi-disciplinary referral hospital in the North West of the UK. We have Specialists in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Diagnostic Imaging, Dermatology, Soft Tissue Surgery and Anaesthesia as well as an Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology.

On the same site we have a busy out-of-hours service that provides 24-hour care for our first opinion member practices, and our teams work closely to provide the very best in patient and client care. You would be required to work nights, 7 nights on 14 nights off (other working patterns could be considered) and would have primary responsibility for the referral inpatients, supported by our on-call specialists. Opportunity to be involved with surgical and medical procedures alongside these specialists would be available on your shifts.

You would also be supported by the MiNightVet team, and there would be opportunity to take primary responsibility for your own out-of-hours cases. Together with support from the on-call specialist you would have on-site MiNightVet team members, including nurses and vets, on hand for advice or support as required. This position would suit a recent graduate veterinary surgeon looking to enhance their emergency and critical care skills whilst also being involved with specialist-level care.

You will possess strong team-working and communication skills and have a passion to deliver excellent patient care and client service. A structured induction and supported transition into night work is provided.
