Main duties of the job:

• As a Community CAMHS Mental Health Worker, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex young people with moderate to severe mental health disorders.
• You will carry out routine assessments, help young people to develop a collaborative care plan, and offer first-level therapeutic interventions.
• You will offer screening for neurodevelopmental issues and make appropriate internal referrals in order to best support the young people we work with.
• The service offers a wide range of structured interventions such as CBT, systemic family therapy, DBT, IPT, and Positive Behaviour Support.

Our core CAMHS team cover the North Derbyshire area from our 2 bases in Buxton and Chesterfield and provide a service predominantly Monday – Friday between 9am – 5pm. Our service has embraced flexible and remote working.

Person specification:

• Relevant professional qualification e.g. nursing, social work, OT or other allied health professional with relevant mental health experience and valid/current registration with the associated professional body e.g. NMC, HCPC, SWE, BACP.
• Training in provision of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy.
• Training in provision of Systemic Family Therapy.
• Post registration experience working within Child, Adolescent Mental Health or other relevant setting.
• Experience of mental health assessments and the implementation of a wide range of therapeutic interventions.
• Ability to manage a caseload autonomously.
• Experience teaching/training students and/or other disciplines.
• Experience working in CAMHS.
• Experience of service evaluation and audit.
• Experience of multi-professional teamwork.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Experience in provision of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
• Experience in provision of Systemic Family Therapy.
• Qualities essential to clinical practice e.g. respect, genuineness and personal integrity.
• Ability to manage own time effectively.
• Ability to liaise with other professionals.
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
• Skills in supervision both as provider and recipient.
• Extensive knowledge base in Child & Adolescent Mental Health.
• Experience of using a variety of therapeutic methods/models.
• A grasp of relevant legislation and guidance e.g. NHS plan, Mental Health Legislation, Children's act, Education Act, Working Together, Children's NSF, Every Child Matters etc.
