Role Overview

The People & Culture Manager role is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in a range of people management skills, including employee relations, pay and benefits, recruitment and employee wellbeing. Reporting to the Assistant Principal People and Culture, the role blends day-to-day management and development of our People & Culture Team, while working closely with key stakeholders including Payroll, Finance, Quality, Workforce Development, local trade union representatives and supporting our wider college management team on a wide range of people issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic People & Culture initiatives aligned with college objectives.
  • Provide expert advice on UK employment law, HR best practice and statutory compliance.
  • Produce and analyse HR data and KPIs to inform decision making.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding and employee wellbeing programmes.
  • Manage employee relations, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, Finance and Quality teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits and entitlements.
  • Support workforce development and succession planning initiatives.
  • Represent the college at union meetings and negotiations.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in HR management, ideally within Further Education.
  • Ability to produce HR related data and KPIs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across senior management.
