Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Team Leader to manage our Building Cleaning Service, leading staff and overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure consistently high cleaning standards across council buildings and facilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading teams, maintaining quality standards and delivering an effective frontline service.
Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and support a team of building cleaning operatives while managing rotas, staffing levels, equipment, materials, transport and personal protective equipment.
- Monitor cleaning standards, identify opportunities for service improvement and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including COSHH requirements.
- Respond professionally to customer enquiries and service requests; when required, undertake operational cleaning duties to support the team.
- Be an organised, approachable and confident leader with experience of working within cleaning services or a similar operational environment, with strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills to manage people, priorities and resources effectively while maintaining excellent service standards.
- Applicants should have experience working in cleaning services or a similar operational environment, together with experience of supervising or managing staff.
- Hold good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements, and an NVQ Level 2 qualification or demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Full UK driving licence is essential, with flexibility to travel between sites as required.
- A management or leadership qualification would be advantageous; applications from candidates willing to work towards one are welcomed.
- Experience of managing attendance, appraisals and performance matters, together with experience of overseeing services across multiple sites, would be beneficial.
Qualifications & Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience (or demonstration of equivalent experience).
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites.
- Experience supervising or managing staff in cleaning services or similar operational environment.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills; knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Willingness to work toward a management or leadership qualification (advantageous).
