Are you ready to take the next step in your audit career? We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic individual to join our Internal Audit Consortium Team that consists of 3 partnering authorities. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a team providing an Internal Audit service to Bolsover, Chesterfield, and North East Derbyshire Councils. You will be responsible for ensuring that your team meets the Global Internal Audit Standards and for assisting the Head of the Internal Audit Consortium in the management, development, and continuous improvement of the team. The post will be based predominantly at Bolsover District Council leading a small team but may involve working at any of the Consortium’s partner locations.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits utilising modern internal audit techniques covering a wide spectrum including financial systems, operations, contracts, IT, and fraud across all departments of constituent authorities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Consortium on-site responding to client enquiries on all audit matters.
  • Lead, develop, and manage a small team of auditors.
  • Review audit work completed by auditors to maintain consistently high-quality standards in alignment with Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Design risk-based test schedules for new and emerging audit areas.

Candidate requirements: The successful candidate will be an Association of Accounting Technicians qualified or a part-qualified member of an accounting institute, or possess an equivalent level of organizational and procedural knowledge. Ideally, you will have experience managing staff and working in an internal audit environment. A basic disclosure check will be required from the Disclosure and Barring Service to access the National Fraud Initiative database.
