Work Environment

We are the UK’s biggest zoo, operating across kiosks, gift shops, and an off‑site store in Chester Market. The retail team is supported by a diverse group of nearly 600 permanent and 500 seasonal team members.

Role

As a Retail Assistant you support the zoo’s retail operation by providing customer service, achieving sales goals, merchandising, cleaning, managing cash, controlling inventory, resupplying, and creating lasting memories for visitors.

Package

  • Temporary contract – 4th July 2026 to 6th September 2026
  • Pay rate – £12.71 per hour (age independent)
  • Rota basis – minimum 8 hours per week, up to 40 hours (including weekends, bank holidays, evenings)
  • Accrued annual leave based on hours worked

Requirements

  • Passionate about excellent customer service and confident communicating with visitors

  • Comfortable working outside for long periods in all weather
  • Retail or visitor‑attraction experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Flexible to work up to 5 days a week, including evenings until 10pm, weekends, mid‑week, and bank holidays as scheduled
