The role – Brand & Marketing Officer
We have an exciting new role for an exceptional Brand & Marketing Offer to join our team. We’re looking for a proactive and experienced individual who can confidently deliver effective content and campaigns for Chester Zoo that support our marketing and wider organisation objectives.
Reporting to the Brand & Marketing Manager, they will be responsible for coordinating and implementing activity across our different channels, collaborating closely with other teams and agency partners in the creation of engaging campaign assets, and the timely delivery of campaign plans.
We’re looking for someone who can bring fresh thinking, creativity and a mindset of continuous improvement to their work, the team and the wider zoo – contributing ideas to improve campaign effectiveness, audience engagement and meet our wider team goals.
This exciting role requires strong communication and project management skills, someone who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about connecting audiences with the Chester Zoo brand and mission as a world class visitor attraction and conservation zoo.
As a Brand & Marketing Officer you will
Management of content and asset production:

  • Work with internal and agency creative partners to effectively brief and produce design, photography & video content for paid and owned channels including website, social media, email, radio, OOH, TV, cinema as well as zoo site collateral.
  • Ensuring objectives of campaigns are met and bring fresh creative thinking to how content can be used and adapted across different platforms to maximise impact
  • Assist in creating and editing content on website and owned channels which may include copywriting, CMS upload and editing
  • Coordinate content photo and video shoots in zoo – lead contact for external agencies and internal teams
  • Managing asset approval process
  • Ensure campaign assets are appropriately stored, version controlled and circulated across internal and external teams.
Lead campaign coordination and delivery:
  • Support with campaign planning, which will be led by the Brand & Marketing Manager
  • Work with media agency to ensure final media plan and asset requirements are clearly defined
  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of campaign activity, including creation of campaign production schedules, organising and leading regular update meetings with the wider team, keeping Brand & Marketing Manager abreast of progress and any gaps or issues with delivery
  • Ensure creative agencies and internal teams are clearly briefed on the requirements of each campaign and assets are delivered to time and on brief
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve campaign delivery and effectiveness – from audience targeting to content formats, channels and messaging
  • Management of campaigns timings and budgets
  • Present campaign plans and results to stakeholders around the zoo
  • Involvement and coordination of wider brand and marketing projects outside of campaigns as required
Effective measurement and learning:
  • Monitor live campaigns and content performance against defined KPIs working with the wider channel and agency teams, flagging and issues or opportunities for optimisation
  • Gather and compile results for post-campaign reporting
  • Support the Brand & Marketing Manager in gathering previous campaign insight and performance data to inform briefing and planning

Our Requirements – Brand & Marketing Officer
  • Previous proven experience working at this level within a fast-paced marketing team or agency environment
  • Experience managing integrated campaigns across a variety of channels
  • Strong understanding of on and offline marketing channels
  • Strong project management and coordination skills, able to work independently
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to prioritise and plan workload effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including basic copywriting/editing
  • Experience working alongside creative teams, agencies and media agencies
  • Some experience analysing data and performance
  • Passionate about brand, marketing and campaigns
  • A creative thinker and collaborative team player
  • A proactive mindset with a desire to continuously improve campaign outcomes and test new ideas
The Package
  • Contract Type – Permanent
  • Working Hours – 40 hours per week
  • Salary – £30,000 per annum
  • Hybrid working, based at Chester Zoo at least 3 days per week.
  • 33 days annual leave (includes bank holidays) plus the option to buy or sell up to 5 days.
