Join our team! Chester Race Company is seeking a dynamic, target-driven individual to join our Commercial Team. This permanent role, based in the heart of Chester, will focus on generating new business by developing and maintaining a strong sales pipeline through outbound sales activity, networking opportunities, and proactive engagement. The post will be central to sourcing, nurturing, and securing new business, contributing directly to the growth objectives of both Chester Racecourse and Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse.
Working closely with the Business Development Manager, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong sales knowledge and an understanding of how sponsorship and hospitality assets can be leveraged to enhance brand exposure, customer interaction, and corporate relationship-building - delivered with confidence, resilience, and persuasive communication.
General Responsibilities include:
- Proactively identify and target potential brands/companies.
- Generate new business via telephone, email, social media, and face-to-face networking.
- Represent the company at events, forums, and client functions.
- Demonstrate commercial understanding on how brands activate sponsorship.
- Research prospect needs and tailor proposals that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Nurture and progress relationships through regular communication and follow-up.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Team to grow the pipeline and achieve quarterly revenue targets.
- Increase profitability through Hospitality, Sponsorship, and wider commercial sales.
- Provide data insights to support lead generation and development activity.
- Maintain accurate CRM records (HubSpot preferred) and log all communications.
- Prepare and analyse sales pipeline reports for management review.
Essential requirements:
- A minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in sales, business development, or commercial roles.
- Experience in sponsorship, partnerships, or marketing-led sales.
- Proven ability to identify and engage brands for activation opportunities.
- Experience attending networking events and building business relationships.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Desirable requirements:
- Experience with HubSpot CRM.
- A Business, Marketing, or related degree.

What we offer:
CRC offers a great selection of benefits, from Race Day tickets to enhanced pension contributions. Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (plus commission). Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. CRC is an event company; you will be required to work some weekends and evenings. Any work beyond the contracted hours will be eligible for time off in lieu. CRC has a flexible approach to working hours, which should be agreed with your line manager.
