We’re looking for enthusiastic and food-focused Kitchen Assistants to join Chester Race Company and support our race days and events throughout the season. If you’re passionate about food and keen to kick-start your career in catering within a fast-paced kitchen environment, we’d love you to work with us. This is a varied and exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across an impressive range of events — from race days at Chester Racecourse and Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, to weddings, private celebrations, festivals, and nationally televised awards and shows. You’ll work at prestigious venues across the region, supporting our expert catering teams and building valuable experience in professional event catering.

About Chester Race Company & Horseradish Catering

General Responsibilities
- Supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen during busy service periods and events
- Assisting Chefs with plating starters, mains, and desserts to a high standard
- Supporting back-of-house operations to ensure efficient kitchen flow
- Maintaining high presentation and quality standards for all dishes leaving the kitchen
- Adhering to all Health & Safety and food hygiene procedures
- Working as part of the wider catering team to ensure smooth service delivery
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine passion for food and the catering industry
- Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is desirable
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn
- Ability to work well under direction in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong awareness of hygiene, safety, and quality standards
- Level 2 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to complete training)
- This role requires you to be over the age of 18
Pay Rates
Pay Rates (inclusive of holiday pay): £15.25 per hour to increase to £15.70 from April 1st
