Join the Operations team at Chester Race Company as an Area Manager. We’re looking for confident, experienced, passionate and people-focused Area Managers to join our race day and major events operation at Chester Racecourse. As an Area Manager, you’ll play a critical leadership role on race days and events, taking ownership of a designated area and ensuring an outstanding guest experience from arrival to departure.
You’ll act as the link between operational teams, contractors and management on the ground, keeping standards high, teams supported, and the operation running smoothly. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role, ideal for someone who thrives in live environments and enjoys leading teams in front-line operational settings, with the guest experience being at the heart of everything that you do!

General responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the safe, effective, and high-quality delivery of your designated area on event days
- Complete pre-event and close-down checks, escalating risks and readiness issues as required
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless guest experience
- Maintain excellent presentation, cleanliness, and operational standards at all times
- Manage guest flow and crowd movement to ensure safety and positive experiences
- Act as a visible, proactive leader, supporting guests and resolving issues on the ground
- Monitor live operations, escalate risks, and support incident management
- Capture feedback and insights to support continuous improvement
- Champion a guest-first, safety-led culture
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in operational leadership within events, hospitality, sport, or high-footfall environments
- Strong focus on guest experience and presentation standards
- Calm, decisive problem-solver in fast-paced live settings
- Confident communicator able to lead diverse teams and stakeholders
- Hands-on, resilient, and comfortable working outdoors
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
- Previous major event or venue experience is desirable
- This role requires you to be over the age of 18
Pay Rates: £22.42 per hour
