The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) currently has vacancies for an Autistic Support Teacher on Assignment.
This position will lead a K-2 Autistic Support Classroom in the Reading School District.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with ASD, in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Design and deliver instructional lessons that are differentiated to meet the unique needs of each student, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies and interventions to promote communication, social skills development, and independence among students.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies and goals as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, respect, and emotional support for all students.
- Collaborate effectively with other educators, therapists, and support staff to coordinate services and optimize student outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (required).
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education (K-12) or equivalent (required).
- Experience working with young students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (preferred).
- Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and other evidence-based practices for supporting students with ASD (preferred).
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

- Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, 194 days (year 1), 191 days (year 2), 190 days thereafter
