Through chess clubs, corporate events, community initiatives, we aim to create meaningful connections and make chess more accessible to everyone.

As Chess Ring continues to grow, we are looking for a passionate and outgoing Community Lead Manager to help build and strengthen our community.

Role Overview

The Community Lead Manager will play a key role in creating welcoming and engaging experiences for Chess Ring members.

This person will help organise and facilitate weekly chess clubs, contribute ideas for new events, and work closely with the founder to continue building a thriving community.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who loves people, enjoys bringing communities together, and believes in the power of chess as a tool for connection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and facilitate weekly Chess Ring chess clubs.
  • Create a welcoming environment for new and existing members.
  • Introduce beginners to the game and support players of different levels.
  • Encourage interaction and help members build connections.
  • Develop creative ideas for monthly Chess Ring events.
  • Help organise social events and themed experiences.
  • Support the delivery and logistics of events.
  • Grow and strengthen the Chess Ring community.
  • Maintain relationships with regular attendees.
  • Encourage participation and member retention.
  • Help create an inclusive and positive atmosphere.
  • Collect, organise, and maintain community data, including attendance records, member feedback, and engagement metrics.
  • Identify trends and provide insights that can help improve the member experience and support Chess Ring's growth.
  • Support the development of systems that help track community growth and measure impact.
  • Work closely with the founder and wider team.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to improve the community experience.
  • Eventually take ownership of community operations and help ensure Chess Ring can continue to grow sustainably.

Experience

Previous experience is not essential. However, experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Community building.
  • Event planning or hosting.
  • Teaching or mentoring.
  • Working with clubs, societies, or volunteer organisations.
  • Customer service or hospitality.
  • Chess coaching or involvement in local chess communities.
  • Time Commitment

Flexible and dependent on availability, but ideally

  • Weekly attendance at Chess Ring clubs.
  • Participation in monthly events.
  • Regular communication with the team.
