Overview
Purpose of the Role: To support the Outdoor Living department by delivering excellent customer service, proactively engaging every customer who enters the showrooms, actively driving sales through confident, consultative selling and maintaining high retail and merchandising standards. The role focuses on engaging customers, converting enquiries into sales, and ensuring the department is welcoming, safe and commercially presented at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Customer Engagement
- Proactively approach and acknowledge every customer who enters the Outdoor Living showrooms in a friendly and professional manner.
- Engage customers to understand their outdoor living needs and offer appropriate advice, solutions and products.
- Confidently sell Outdoor Living products including furniture, BBQs, Pergolas, outdoor kitchens, accessories and seasonal ranges.
- Ensure no customer leaves the department without being offered assistance.
- Daily follow up on customer enquiries and quotations to maximise sales conversion.
- Upsell, cross-sell and recommend complementary products to increase transaction value.
- Support the department in achieving sales targets.
- Promote offers and promotions to customers.
- Deliver a welcoming, knowledgeable and consultative service to every customer.
- Support customers throughout their buying journey, including product selection, quotations, delivery options and aftersales queries.
- Build rapport and trust to create a positive and memorable customer experience.
- Handle customer questions or concerns professionally, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Ensure customers leave with a positive impression of the Outdoor Living Showrooms.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and well-presented Outdoor Living department at all times.
- Ensure daily checklists are completed daily and standards are consistently maintained.
- Ensure furniture and displays are built, maintained and presented to a high standard.
- Follow merchandising guidelines to keep displays commercial, inspiring and seasonally relevant.
- Ensure POS, pricing and signage are accurate and up to date.
- Support layout changes and promotional displays as required.
- Assist with stock replenishment, rotation and availability.
- Handle stock carefully to minimise damage and shrinkage.
- Report low stock levels, damages or maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all health & safety, fire safety and security procedures.
- Complete all tasks as required.
- Work with line manager and colleagues to support department goals.
- Work with colleagues to ensure customers are greeted promptly, even during busy periods.
- Communicate effectively with the supervisor and retail manager regarding sales opportunities, customer feedback or issues.
- Support other departments when required to ensure smooth store operations.
