We are looking for an Assistant Retail Manager to support the Retail Manager in leading all shop retail departments, driving strong commercial performance, maintaining operational excellence and ensuring high team engagement. The Assistant Retail Manager plays a key role in delivering sales growth, exceptional customer experience and consistently high retail standards across multiple product categories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Commercial Performance
    • Support delivery of sales, margin and performance targets across all shop departments.
    • Monitor daily and weekly trading performance and highlight risks or opportunities.
    • Assist with seasonal planning, product launches and promotional execution.
    • Work with supervisors to maximise sales through effective merchandising and stock availability.
    • Support supplier liaison and help identify commercial opportunities.
    • Contribute to promotional activity and events to maximise footfall and revenue.
  • Team Leadership & People Management
    • Support, coach and motivate department supervisors and assistants.
    • Reinforce clear expectations and accountability standards.
    • Assist with recruitment, onboarding and team development.
    • Deliver product knowledge and customer service training where required.
    • Lead the shop floor in the absence of the Retail Manager.
  • Customer Experience
    • Lead by example in delivering knowledgeable and attentive customer service.
    • Act as escalation point for customer concerns when required.
    • Ensure retail areas are proactively managed and service standards are maintained.
    • Support supervisors in maintaining high presentation and merchandising standards.
  • Operations & Retail Standards
    • Support the smooth day-to-day operation of all shop retail areas.
    • Oversee merchandising standards, cleanliness and stock presentation.
    • Monitor stock control, seasonal transitions and delivery processes.
    • Assist with cashing up and till supervision where required.
    • Ensure company property, fixtures and equipment are maintained and used correctly.
    • Support other areas of the business when required.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Support site fire safety and H&S compliance.
    • Ensure safe working practices are consistently followed.
    • Monitor completion of daily H&S records.
    • Identify and report maintenance or compliance issues promptly.
    • Assist in implementing stock loss prevention measures.
  • Communication & Governance
    • Provide regular feedback to the Shop Retail Manager on performance and operational matters.
    • Support communication between supervisors and senior leadership.
