We’re looking for a Debt Recovery Paralegal to join our growing Legal team. Reporting into the Debt Recovery Manager, the chosen candidate will proactively manage small claims debt litigation from pre-action to conclusion, including enforcement when necessary.

Responsibilities, not limited to:

  • Proactively manage a caseload of small claims debt litigation from pre-action through to conclusion, including enforcement action when necessary.
  • Negotiate settlements using both formal and informal ADR methods.
  • Attend hearings as a witness or representative.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on your caseload.
  • Resolve complaints submitted to CISAS and, where appropriate, submit a defence to CISAS.
  • Handle claims issued against Chess and manage the conduct of these claims.

The Candidate:

  • Have a minimum of 1 year debt litigation experience.
  • Have a working knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules applicable to Small Claims.
  • Basic knowledge of contract law.
  • Be highly organised and have excellent time management skills.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of OFCOM General Conditions.
  • Relevant industry experience (Telecommunications, IT Services).

Salary details: Up to £30,000, dependent on experience.
