Role Purpose: Joining the Engineering team at Wokingham and reporting to Engineering Director, the Product Manager (Vision4ce) will be responsible for developing and delivering the product roadmap in accordance with business requirements. Vision4ce in this context nominally includes hardware and software products relating to the Vision4ce brand, typically but not limited to video management systems, tracking workstations, sensors, edge processors, embedded software and algorithms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solicitation and capture of customer/market and internal stakeholder requirements
- Drafting concept solutions with stakeholders
- Generation and upkeep of the product roadmap in support of strategic planning with the Engineering Director
- Ensuring the roadmap can be vertically integrated with the whole business requirements, in particular working alongside the integrated portfolio teams (IPTs) to guide the direction of development of and support to products.
- Take a leading role in the discovery and review of new technology
- Supporting marketing activities of the product portfolio
- Supporting the bid team in the generation of proposals, often taking the role of lead reviewer
- Formation of plans, estimates, proposals and work packages for internal R&D activity
- Timely delivery of the product roadmap in the oversight of internal and customer funded R&D, and through life product planning.
- Take role of lead reviewer on research and development and supporting reviews of customer projects, maintaining alignment with product roadmap and stakeholder requirements
- Providing technical support to the whole business as required, with respect to specific areas of expertise.
- Ensuring product knowledge transfer is continuous, effective and embedded in the organisation, thus supporting the alignment of objectives and product architectures across the whole portfolio
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience leading or engaging with multidisciplinary teams
- General knowledge of the related defence market and requirements
- Strong academic background and ability to convey ideas and opportunities to stakeholders and customers
- Experience working with high level customers and business stakeholders
- Experience working closely with customers and business development to capture requirements and new business.
- Bid/Research preparation, including estimating, project planning, statements of work, business cases, etc
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, operating across the organisation
- In depth understanding of image processing and image processing hardware.
- Practical understanding of typical Chess payloads and how they are used and specified (cameras, laser range finders, radars)
- Extensive experience working in innovative research and development
- Good appreciation of systems engineering and product life cycle management
- Experience with change/configuration management
