Are you the right fit for our small team of arboricultural consultants? Our practice serves a wide range of clients in the north-west and north midlands of England, providing a diverse range of ethical arboricultural and urban forestry services.
The post holder will provide specialist tree advice on a wide range of issues including pre-planning tree surveys and reports, post-subsidence assessment, woodland management, tree risk assessment, and diagnosis of disease and ill-health in trees. Working with the developers of the Quantified Tree Risk Assessment method, you will be involved in promoting the company as a leader in the delivery of reasonable and proportionate tree safety management.
The skills and experience needed for the post are:
- A qualification in arboriculture or forestry to a minimum of ‘National Qualifications Framework’ Level 4
- At least three years’ post qualification experience in arboricultural consultancy delivering a range of arboricultural and urban forestry services
- Excellent communication and people skills
- The ability to always approach challenges with a positive attitude and work both on own initiative and as part of a team
- The ability to communicate and work closely with local authority tree officers, planners, architects, ecologists and other professionals
- Excellent IT skills and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCad are essential
- Current driving licence
Job Tasks
- Assess trees and woodlands and provide written technical reports to clients for a range of purposes including development planning applications, woodland and landscape management, managing risks to people and property, and pre-purchase mortgage reports
- Post-subsidence tree assessments
- Produce technical drawings and plans using AutoCad and MapInfo
- Maintain clear records of all work tasks
Hours and Environment
You will be working as part of a small, close-knit team that produces work to a high standard while maintaining a relaxed and friendly working environment. Your personal contributions will be recognised and valued, and you will represent the public face of the company. Post hours are forty per week and office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with scope for some flexibility in working times. You will be based at our office in Macclesfield and will spend some of your time visiting clients’ property with occasional overnight stays away. A company car will be provided with a provision for personal use. You will also be required to attend training and continuing professional development events such as workshops, seminars, and conferences from time to time.
Holidays
Holiday entitlement will be 28 days each year including public holidays, with an additional day for each year you are with the company up to a limit of five additional days.
Salary
The successful applicant will receive a salary of between £35,000 and £45,000. Salary is negotiable and dependent on ability and experience. We also offer a company contribution to a personal pension equivalent to 6% of salary, or membership of a company pension scheme equivalent to 5% of salary.
