To assist the Team Leader for Street Lighting and Traffic Signals in providing technical expertise and deliver services specific to the respective service team to ensure effective, efficient and safe delivery of the service for users and the people of Cheshire West & Chester in accordance with Council policies, procedures and resources.
The Principal Street Lighting Engineer will play a key role within the Highways Street Lighting and Traffic Signals Team, providing senior technical expertise and leadership in the management of the council’s street lighting assets. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of street lighting infrastructure, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and industry standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in street lighting engineering, including asset management, project delivery, and the coordination of works associated with highway duties. They will be expected to lead on technical decision‑making, support strategic service development, and contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the public highway.
