Teacher of Humanities – Maternity Cover (MPS & SEN) to start April 2026.
At The Bridge Short Stay School, we don't believe a student's past defines their future. We are looking for an exceptional individual who shares our belief that students who have previously struggled in a mainstream environment can go on to thrive.
Whilst this is primarily a role to teach Humanities (including GCSE Geography), the small nature of the school means a degree of flexibility is required. Experience of teaching a second subject is welcomed, and a willingness to support wider curriculum areas and the overall personal development of students is essential.
The Bridge caters for students who have been permanently excluded for a variety of reasons from across Cheshire West and Chester. The successful candidate will be able to see the potential behind the behaviour; they will have the patience and resilience that allows them to offer students a genuine fresh start and the opportunity to achieve.
We believe that despite the challenges our students have experienced and the behaviours they may demonstrate, they remain young people with boundless potential. We are looking for someone who can engage these young people whilst maintaining very high standards of curriculum delivery to bring out their best.
Our work at the school is challenging but rewarding; staff have positive relationships with students and change lives on a daily basis. This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher who wants to make a difference and can see a child as more than a grade. We are looking for someone who shares our values, believes in our young people, and is able to inspire aspiration in them.
In return, the successful candidate will join a talented and committed team and will be supported to be the best teacher they can be.
The Bridge Short Stay School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be sought for the successful candidate, and an online search will be undertaken for shortlisted candidates in accordance with Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education legislation.
Closing date: 12pm Friday 20th February 2026.
