Gainsborough Primary & Nursery Academy are looking to recruit a hard-working, reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team in September 2026. This is a temporary role for one academic year in the first instance.
This role will involve:
- Carrying out basic food preparation;
- Serving food and drinks to pupils and staff;
- Tidying and cleaning the dining room and kitchen areas;
- Washing up.
The successful candidate must:
- Be enthusiastic and hardworking;
- Work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment;
- Work well as part of a team;
- Be willing to undertake necessary training e.g. food hygiene certificate;
- Have experience of undertaking basic kitchen tasks;
- Have a good understanding of health and safety in the workplace;
- Have a good knowledge of food hygiene and cleanliness standards;
- Be reliable and punctual;
- Have a friendly and approachable manner;
- Have a patient and positive attitude towards children;
- Be flexible and willing to help where needed.
