Gainsborough Primary & Nursery Academy are looking to recruit a hard-working, reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team in September 2026. This is a temporary role for one academic year in the first instance.

This role will involve:

  • Carrying out basic food preparation;
  • Serving food and drinks to pupils and staff;
  • Tidying and cleaning the dining room and kitchen areas;
  • Washing up.

The successful candidate must:

  • Be enthusiastic and hardworking;
  • Work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment;
  • Work well as part of a team;
  • Be willing to undertake necessary training e.g. food hygiene certificate;
  • Have experience of undertaking basic kitchen tasks;
  • Have a good understanding of health and safety in the workplace;
  • Have a good knowledge of food hygiene and cleanliness standards;
  • Be reliable and punctual;
  • Have a friendly and approachable manner;
  • Have a patient and positive attitude towards children;
  • Be flexible and willing to help where needed.
