Blacon High School is seeking an Attendance Assistant to work closely with the Attendance Team and key staff to promote excellent attendance across the school. The role focuses on reducing absence and supporting students and families to achieve high levels of attendance. A key aspect of the position is building strong positive relationships with parents/carers and students, including undertaking home visits where appropriate to help improve attendance.
Responsibilities
- Undertake home and school visits as designated by the school
- Identify and work with individuals and groups of students using regular attendance checks
- Work closely with parents, carers and students to improve levels of attendance
- Collate information regarding attendance difficulties to inform the school, Education Welfare and parents/carers
- Have knowledge of SIMS (asset) or be trained; full training will be provided
- Work with groups of students to improve levels of attendance
- Work with parents, carers and other agencies to improve their child’s attendance record and coordinate parental support and training where appropriate
- Ensure all registers are completed and no missing marks or unexplained absences remain
- Assist with identifying students who will receive support to improve attendance
- Ensure all unexplained absences are accounted for or send automated email requesting an explanation
