Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the Transport Services department. The role is diverse with no one day the same, and involves supporting passengers and assisting the driver to provide an efficient and effective transport service.

Responsibilities

  • To assist passengers travelling on Transport Services vehicles to and from their destination, assisting with getting on and off the vehicle; carrying and stowing luggage and equipment as required; and to ensure the passengers’ comfort and safety at all times.
  • To provide other assistance in relation to the passenger lift or ramp and any other equipment carried on the bus (including wheelchair and occupant restraint systems).
  • To assist the driver by route finding and giving directions when manoeuvring the vehicle.
  • To liaise, as appropriate, between Transport Services operations staff, service purchasers, carers and parents to ensure quality of service provision.

Qualifications / What you will need

  • To assist the driver in the provision of an efficient and effective transport service, having due regard to the needs of all passengers whilst in your care.
  • Operate all auxiliary equipment fitted to vehicles such as lifts, steps, wheelchair tie-down & occupant restraint systems, the removal and replacement of seating where necessary etc.
