We are looking for a Senior Planning Officer to join our well‑established Development Management team at Cheshire East. You will manage a varied and interesting caseload of planning applications and play an important role in decision making to meet our objectives of delivering sustainable development within Cheshire East. We provide a flexible and supportive working environment with hybrid options to work from home and the office (Crewe or Macclesfield).

About the Role

  • Manage a varied caseload of planning applications.
  • Provide pre‑application advice to applicants and stakeholders.
  • Represent the Council at appeals.
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders in the planning process.
  • Produce clear, concise report writing and leverage IT tools.
  • Solve problems and work to deadlines.
  • Be customer focused, negotiate with stakeholders, and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to sustainable place‑making.

About You

  • Professional team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing a caseload of planning applications.
  • Qualified to degree level within Planning or a related discipline and working towards or eligible for RTPI membership.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Organised with an eye for detail, excellent report writing and IT skills.
  • Customer focused and committed to sustainable place‑making.
