An exciting opportunity has become available to work as a Landscape Officer within the Council's Environmental Planning Team, in the Planning Department. The Environmental Planning Team is a multi-disciplinary team of professionals within the Planning Department, providing specialist advice on landscape architecture, design, arboriculture, ecology and heritage with a mission to improve and protect the varied and high quality environments of Cheshire East.

About the role

As a Landscape Officer, you will help shape development to secure the best landscape outcomes by managing a case load of planning consultations and appeals. The role provides the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects including:

  • Preparing and managing landscape planning consultations, including visual and landscape assessment advice.
  • Advising on landscape design matters across a variety of projects, and managing implementation.
  • Developing landscape guidance and policy for the Local Plan.

Cheshire East is a large and busy Planning Authority with a wealth of landscape quality ranging from the Peak Park fringe to the Cheshire plain. This gives us a really diverse portfolio of work and great challenges to respond to. We're a dedicated team and are committed to see you succeed through supporting your development within a really varied work load from proposals for agricultural buildings to large urban extensions, and everything in between.

About you

  • Have a degree level qualification within Landscape Architecture or similar.
  • Be a member of the Landscape Institute.
  • Have post‑qualification experience dealing with planning applications from the public or private sector.
  • Have an understanding of Landscape Visual Impact Assessment.
  • Be an effective team player with great communication skills.
  • Have a flexible approach to work.
  • Have a passion for the built environment and the role landscape architecture plays within it.
  • Be able to travel throughout Cheshire East.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
