Are you passionate about urban design and landscape but not sure where your specialism lies yet? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Design and Landscape Assistant in our Environmental Planning Team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Design and Landscape Assistant, you will have a core remit to secure the best outcomes for development in the borough through managing planning consultations and supporting with complex case work and appeals. The role provides the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects including:
- Developing landscape and design guidance and policy for the Local Plan
- Preparing and managing landscape and design planning consultations, including visual and landscape assessment advice and design code advice
- Advising on landscape and design matters across a variety of projects, and supporting implementation
Cheshire East is a large and busy Planning Authority with a wealth of landscape quality ranging from the Peak Park and Cheshire plain to rural villages and more urban centres of Macclesfield and Crewe. This gives us a really diverse portfolio of work and great challenges to respond to. We’re a dedicated team and are committed to see you succeed through supporting your development within a really varied workload from proposals for agricultural buildings to large urban extensions, and everything in between.

We’re looking for people who are excited about the built environment, who can deliver excellent customer care and who want to help us shape the environment of Cheshire East. The ability to travel throughout Cheshire East and a full UK driving license are required. This job is offered on a full time (5 days per week) basis.
